Japanese tackle big earthquake

Hmmmmmph. Mother nature has a habit of making her presence known when one least expects her arrival. The video and pictures of Japan remind me of a bowl of soup with cars, boats, and debris floating around in seawater.

They've also announced that the Japanese government has already come out and asked for assistance from the United States.  I'm crossing my fingers that the situation will improve.

Annual Pro Bowl rosters set

The players have been identified and the NFL Pro Bowl is set for January 30, 2011. Again, Hawaii will be the host to this year's NFC and AFC all-star players.  True football fans may want to set aside some time for this annual match-up.

Check the teams' rosters and see if your favorite all-stars appear for each  coveted position on the field. The best of the NFL are set to play.  So, make your grandmother's version of huli huli chicken or prepare the very best loco moco. There's a Hawaiian tailgate party at the end of this month.  Alooooha!

Over 50 years of SI covers

If you're a routine reader of Sports Illustrated, the magazine's editors are publishing a book that celebrates over 50 years of covers. The book will retail for $29.95 and should be packed with many of the most remarkable and unforgettable images that have graced SI's covers through the decades.

Sports fans and athletes may want to take note of this unprecedented collection being made available. Perhaps, it will make a for a fine addition to your father's sports memorabilia items.  Even better - give this book to your son for Christmas so he can start his own collection.

"Sports Illustrated The Covers" will be in bookstores by October 2010.

Celebrate with Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream

They have it all. Nifty flavors (like Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, and Half Baked) have loyal fans of premium ice cream lining up across the country. Ben and Jerry's is still doing many things right. Yummy. I can remember when they were the newest pints in my grocer's freezer. Nice to know that some things never change. Look out and try one of their newest flavors.
